Fashion choices on Amazon are aplenty, but with most pieces only going to a size XXL, I was curious if these fast fashion items would fit my size 18/20 body. What I learned from trying Amazon Fashion:
Not all Size XXL are created equal.
We already know this. Any woman that has tried on the same size pants at the same store knows that pretty much nothings stays consistent in the world of women’s clothing pattern making. Nevertheless, I find it important to point out that specifically with large, fast fashion companies like Amazon or Shein, they operate on a much smaller measurement scale. So with that said…
Manage your expectations.
As with any fitting room experience, I think it is always a good idea to come into the experience with very low expectations. Fashion and sizing is too unpredictable to put any weight or worth into something not fitting. I truly didn’t think any of it would fit, so I was pleasantly surprised to walk away with 2 dresses and a crop top!
Clothes not fitting is NOT your body’s fault.
I think this one can be a hard concept to take to heart. But the reality is, bodies were not made to fit into clothes, clothes were made to fit onto bodies. And if a particular item does not fit you the way you had hoped, or the way you enjoy, then it just was not meant for you - and that is OKAY!
It never hurts to try.
This is my last piece of advice. If I had never put these styles to the test, regardless of if I though they would look good or if they would fit, I never would have found some seriously cute things to share with you babes. It never hurts to try something new!
